By participating in the Monkey Shoulder Street Thread Battle, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions
- . Definitions and Interpretation
“Campaign” means the Monkey Shoulder Street Thread Battle conducted by the Promoter.
“Entrant” means any person who meets the eligibility criteria and enters the Campaign.
“Promoter” means Really Great Brand Company (RGBC) and all associated entities.
“Prize” means the rewards detailed in these terms and conditions.
“Participation” means complying with all eligibility criteria and entry requirements. - Eligibility
This Campaign is open to fashion designers aged 18–34 years who are South African citizens and reside in Johannesburg.
Entrants must be aspiring designers, either students or currently working in a fashion-related field.
Entrants must be available in Johannesburg for the duration of the mentorship, fittings, and Soweto Fashion Week in November 2025. - Submission Period
Portfolio submissions are open from 7 May 2025 to 7 August 2025.
All submissions must include a fashion portfolio and completed entry form via the splash page within this period. - Selection Process
Finalists will be selected based on portfolio quality by a judging panel made up of Fulu Rathumbu and the Monkey Shoulder marketing team.
The decision of the judging panel is final.
One winner will be selected and announced following the close of the submission period. - Prize
The winner will receive:
A one-on-one mentorship with Fulu Rathumbu
R20,000 in cash (paid in two instalments: 50% upon winner announcement, 50% post-showcase)
The opportunity to showcase their designs at Soweto Fashion Week in November 2025 - Responsibilities of the Winner
The winner must be available for:
Scheduled mentorship sessions (in-person and/or online)
Garment fittings and production deadlines
Participation in the Soweto Fashion Week showcase
Media interviews and potential press features
Travel to and from Soweto Fashion Week events and mentorship sessions is the responsibility of the participant.
Participants must conduct themselves professionally and responsibly, especially as the campaign is affiliated with an alcohol brand. - Usage Rights
By entering, participants grant Monkey Shoulder and BLANK Collection unlimited usage rights for submitted work, photos, videos, and likenesses for campaign-related promotional purposes.
The campaign intends to amplify emerging designers through global brand exposure. - Campaign Timeline
Portfolio Submissions: 7 May – 7 August 2025
Winner Selection & Announcement: by 14 August 2025
Mentorship Period: 15 August – October 2025
Showcase at Soweto Fashion Week: November 2025
- Warranties and Liabilities
To the extent allowed by law, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from or in connection with the Entrant’s participation and/or acceptance of the Prize.
In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Promoter is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into. The Promoter shall not be held liable for any entries that are incomplete, lost, delayed, misdirected, or not received for any reason. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or withdraw the mentorship at any stage, should circumstances warrant such action. The winner must not have any prior criminal record. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant found to have submitted false information or engaged in misconduct during or after the campaign period. - Indemnity
Entrants indemnify and hold the Promoter harmless against any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from participation or breach of these terms and conditions. - Privacy
Entrants may be required to submit personal information which will be used solely for campaign-related purposes.
The Promoter will handle all personal data in accordance with applicable South African privacy laws and regulations but will not be held liable for any unauthorised access or disclosure. - Final Provisions
The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions or terminate the Campaign at any stage.
Employees, agents, directors, or family members of the Promoter or The BLANK Collection are not eligible to enter.
